Review: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Goodreads Synopsis:

Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak―but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life―and her future―forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?

The bestselling series that has captured readers all over the world reaches new heights in this sequel to the New York Timesbest-selling Crown of Midnight. Packed with heart-pounding action, fierce new characters, and swoon-worthy romance, this third book will enthrall readers from start to finish.

My Review:

Picking up shortly after Crown of Midnight left off, Heir of Fire wastes no time getting to the plot building and action. The world building continues to expand and grow in detail on such a high level as to destroy expectations. I had trouble accepting that I wasn’t actually in Adarlan or Wendlyn, which to me is always a good indicator of flawless world development.

The characters moving forward from the previous book gained additional depth and grew as characters throughout this story. Several characters were introduced to the series in this book and were developed quite seamlessly. Character growth within Heir of Fire is obvious in every character, but only if you’re looking for it. It’s done in such a way that it doesn’t openly draw attention from the storyline.

The story itself has twists and turns a bit, which will especially take you by surprise if you underestimate it. While I found myself growing more comfortable with the world and characters, the storyline changes just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat (and lose quite a bit of sleep as well). I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end and can not wait to continue the series!

Overall, I rate Heir of Fire 5 out of 5 bookworms.

Don’t just take my word for it. Order Heir of Fire, the third book in the Throne of Glass Series, from Amazon US or Amazon UK and enjoy it for yourself!

  1. Hehehe I get your lack of sleep comment! This series is all-consuming, eating, sleeping and everything else takes a back seat to it LOL! HoF is my favorite book in the series so far (along with QoS) so I’m glad you loved it too 😀 Great review^^
